When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.
At Sparrow Oast, we believe that "excellent performance" isnβt just about the ribbonsβitβs about the horse behind them. This past weekend at Aster Horses was a perfect reminder that when we listen to what our horses are telling us, we find the right way forward, even if it isn't the fastest.
β¨ The Power of Patience: Moose π
After 18 months away from the spotlight, our Lusitano gelding, Moose, made a successful return with Chianna! He blew us away with scores of 67.5% and 68%.
Moose is incredibly hyper-mobile, which meant his journey back to the ring couldn't be rushed. Nicola has spent months working quietly at home, focusing on his core stability and strength. Itβs been a long process to help him support his own body, but seeing him confident and steady in the ring proved that taking the "long way" is always worth it.
π Putting the Horse First: Pablo
We also took Olson Timber Buildings Piropo Pagan (Pablo) out for another run. While we always hope for a smooth day, Pablo was feeling unsettled on Sunday.
Horses are sensitive, and a few recent changes in stable mates at home have rattled his routine. Instead of pushing through, we listen.
Our Plan: Weβre heading back to the basics with dedicated groundwork.
The Goal: Helping his body find relaxation and better posture through confidence, not force.
Next Steps: Weβll be aiming for a return at the end of February once Pablo feels like his steady, confident self again.
In this sport, the "right way" is the only way for longevity and true partnership π€.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with this lovely horse. Our focus has been on studying the way from nature he uses his body; and by using some groundwork patterns and poles he has found more lift through his shoulder and support through his thoracic sling. This focus continued into the ridden work and a few productive water treadmill sessions at the @sterling.equinetherapy π¦πββοΈ

This week we took some young horses to Aster Horses for an arena hire. Our very own Moose (Lusitano) started off a bit tight in the back with a short, choppy stride which he can revert to when he becomes anxious in new environments.
To help him find his rhythm, one of our team, Chianna, adopted a light seat. By taking the weight out of the saddle, she gave Moose the freedom to lift through his back and stretch out his stride. The result? A much happier, more relaxed horse who is using his body correctly! π
Every training session is a conversationβsometimes you just have to listen and adjust!
